The Gestalt approach to organizations


The Gestalt approach to organizations is a field developed in the late 50’s in the USA and is concerned with the assessment, design and implementation of change and learning within organizations. The approach is humanitarian and holistic, based on the principles of phenomenology, dialogue and the paradoxical theory of change. Consultants and coaches of the Gestalt approach use self as instrument in order to intervene effectively to the system. The goal is to achieve change as one achieves self and environmental awareness.


Situations where application of Gestalt oriented organizational consulting is appropriate include conflict or lack of acceptance of conflict in organizations, problematic internal communication, lack of participation and work involvement, goal setting in the organizational level, introduction to team work, resistance to change and leadership issues among others.
